Itinerary
Day 1 -Dar es Salaam
Arrive Julius Nyerere International Airport. Meet and transfer to Mediterraneo Boutique Hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 - Mikumi NP
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Mikumi NP arriving for lunch at Camp Bastian. Afternoon guided village tour. Dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian.
Mikumi National Park covers an area of 3,230 sq km, is the fourth largest national park in Tanzania and is rich in wildlife including buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, lion, elephant, impala, hippos, baboon, giraffe, warthog, waterbuck and eland which can be viewed throughout the year. Reptiles including crocodile, monitor lizard and python are also resident in the park.
Day 3 – Mikumi NP
Breakfast at the camp, thereafter, proceed on a full day game viewing drive in the park. Picnic lunch. Continue on a game viewing drive before returning for dinner and overnight at Camp Bastian.
Day 4 – Ruaha NP
Breakfast at the lodge. Drive to Ruaha NP. Picnic lunch. Afternoon at leisure to relax at the camp. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.
Day 5 – Ruaha NP
Breakfast at the camp. Full day game viewing in the park. Picnic lunch. Dinner and overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.
Located just south of the central midpoint of Tanzania. The national park encompasses an area of 7,809 square miles (20,226 sq km) making it the largest national park in Tanzania and one of the largest in Africa. Ruaha National Park is part of the larger Rungwa-Kizigo-Muhesi ecosystem that covers an area of 17,000 square miles (45,000 sq km). Along with Ruaha, the area includes two other game reserves and a wildlife management area. There are three primary areas for safari game-viewers to explore. The Ruaha River area is the most stunning with Mdonya woodlands and the Mbage-Mwagusi circuit.
Day 6 – Ruaha NP
On this day you will leave early to go for sunrise game drives with breakfast break taken within the park. After breakfast break will continue with game drive searching for wild animals around different locations of the park till lunch break. After lunch and a little rest within the park you will continue with the game drive till evening before returning for dinner and overnight at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge.
Day 7 – Udzungwa Mountains NP
Breakfast at the camp. Drive to Udzungwa Mountains NP. Picnic lunch en route. Afternoon guided nature walk around the camp. Dinner and overnight at Udzungwa Forest Camp.
Day 8 – Udzungwa Mountains NP
After breakfast you will you proceed on half day Sanje Waterfalls Hike inside Udzungwa Mountains National park. Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a beautiful wooded park and the habitat of various monkeys, including the rare Iringa Red colobus and the Sanje crested manga bush. Because of the villages, markets and plantations, this is a pleasant change when combined with other safari areas. Mang’ula village tour in the evening. All meals and overnight at Udzungwa Forest Camp.
Day 9 – Nyerere NP
Breakfast at the camp. Drive to Nyerere NP. Picnic lunch. Enjoy scenic views along the route. Arrive in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp.
Discover the jungle, savannah and river sides of the vast Nyerere National Park (previously the Selous Game Reserve) - an amazing place for game drives. This Park in southern Tanzania has fewer visitors than the northern parks but boasts elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, leopards, giraffes, the endangered rhino, the rare African wild dog and more. It's the largest park in the country now (30,893 square kilometeres), so be prepared to cover some miles!. Excursions by 4×4 vehicle will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park..
Day 10 – Nyerere NP
Pre-dawn guided walking safari from the camp. Afterwards proceed on a game viewing drive in the park. 2-hour walking safari in Nyerere National Park. A knowledgeable guide and an armed ranger accompany you during the activity to protect you and teach you funny facts, like how to identify a bird by its sound or how steaming dung indicates an elephant passing not too long ago. They will also show you how to quietly approach elephant herds, and for a little while… you can follow in their giant footsteps! Afterwards, proceed on a game viewing drive in the park. Dinner and overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp.
Day 11 – Nyerere NP
Breakfast at the lodge. Full day game viewing drive in the park. Afternoon boat safari in Rufiji River. A boat safari on the Rufiji River in Nyerere National Park is both relaxing and adventurous! The boat takes you over the river and to nearby lakes, allowing you to spot many animals that come to the water’s edge. Very common are giraffes, impalas, waterbucks, kudus and warthogs. Sometimes, also bathing elephants or crocodiles can be seen, and always, the many bird species sound their voices. Dinner and overnight at Selous Wilderness Camp.
Day 12 – Departure
Breakfast at the camp. Drive to Dar es Salaam. Picnic lunch en route. On arrival transfer to Hotel Blue Sapphire for day room. Later transfer back to the airport for outbound flight.
Note: Your safari ends there, but an add-on program could begin at this point…
